El Caballero Restaurant
About This Spot
Walking into El Caballero Restaurant is like stepping into a beloved neighborhood gem where time slows down just enough to savor the simple pleasures of good company and heartfelt cooking. Nestled on Marland Boulevard in Hobbs, this cozy nook wraps visitors in a welcoming atmosphere that feels both quietly familiar and quietly vibrant—a place where the hum of friendly chatter and the warmth of shared meals create a soothing backdrop to your visit.
The pace here mirrors the rhythm of daily life in a tight-knit community. It’s unhurried without fuss, where servers greet you with genuine smiles and a calm efficiency that invites you to settle in and make yourself at home. The space, intimate and unpretentious, carries a sense of family, carrying stories in its worn wooden tables and the lively colors of Mexican heritage subtly woven through its decor.
The culinary experience at El Caballero is deeply rooted in tradition, featuring dishes that feel like a warm embrace rather than a complex culinary puzzle. The flavors speak softly but with conviction — from tender, richly seasoned meats to fresh, homemade salsas that carry just the right amount of heat and balance. Whether you’re digging into a plate of chicharro simmered in salsa verde or savoring the comforting familiarity of huevos rancheros, each bite carries echoes of family recipes and local pride.
Here, mealtime is more than just eating — it’s an unhurried chance to connect, to taste the rhythms of southern New Mexico through dishes like fluffy rice, hearty soups, or a perfectly executed guacamole that spark conversations and moments of quiet appreciation. The menu feels like an open conversation, full of inviting staples that draw regulars back and newcomers in, all looking for a slice of something genuine.
El Caballero quietly earns its reputation not through fanfare but by embracing the beauty of everyday meals made with care. For those who find their way here, it’s not just a place to eat—it’s a small but meaningful chapter in the story of Hobbs, a place where local flavors and friendly faces linger long after the last bite.

This is THE best place in Hobbs. It is small, but well worth the wait, if you have to wait. The food is so good. Asado is so tender and flavorful. I had to order some to go since I don't live in Hobbs anymore. I don't even like lemonade, but that is what I got while here cuz it is so good! Not too tart, not too sweet! They have so many choices on the menu too. My son got chicken strips and they were tender and juicy! We had lunch here on Saturday and came back for breakfast on Sunday! Do your yourself a favor and give this place a try!

Great little place to have lunch. The food and service was great. The rice was so fluffy and fresh! Probably the best rice I've had.

Not a bad little place. It was recommended by a co worker. The asado was good and so was the real deal rice and beans. The nachos were good but would of lived a queso and not the other cheese. Felt like I was at a café back home. Service was good.
